Hi Launchpaders !

i just finished polishing a new version of the script.

benefits :
-bug fixes from the new scripts,
-somewhat more responsive,
-and most of all, MaxForLive compatiblity.

improved a few things :
-lock to a clip in step sequencer mode
-mute lane mode in step sequencer mode
-improved device selection in DeviceController
-fixed a few bugs
-renamed the script into Launchpad85 (as it's based on version 8 scripts)
-added support for live 9 (and created a fork Launchpad95)
-add source to github

i updated the documentation and uploaded the new version of the script there :

I can't believe people haven't jumped all over this already !! Amazing work !!

Been playing around with this a little over xmas and its brilliant.

Can I make some suggestions ??

A way to better select note lengths would be cool if you could do that.
Maybe press and hold the quantize button to bring up 2 or 3 lines of 8 buttons which vary note lengths
(128, 64, 32, 16, 8, 1/4, 1/2, 1) and the other for triplets / longer notes.

Maybe this expertly drawn diagram will help lol

_o_o_o_o_o_o_o_o
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][x][x][x] o
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][x][x][x] o
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][x][x][x] o
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][x][x][x] x press and hold
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][x][x][x] o
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][x][x][x] o
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][x][x][x] o
[ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][x][x][x] o
Long Notes ->
128/64/32/16 -->
Triplets ------------>

And maybe some way to jump up and down the note range in bigger steps with lights to mark where the C's are

Also while selecting notes and trying to move them with the keyboard i can only move 1 place and then
they deselect. Maybe its just me.

Thanks for the awesome xmas present !!

Hi guys,

Thanks for your feedback !
I added note markers, that really helps to understand where you are in the step sequencer.
One amber block for A and three amber blocks for C. have a try :)

About the quantize/note length, your idea looks really nice indeed, but i need also to make easy to understand and intuitive and ideally having the same kind of key combination logic for folding would be nice too (scales maybes ?).

You are also right, while the step sequencer is active, you cannot move notes within Live with the mouse. I'll try to find a workaround for this. Meanwhile the simplest way to go around this is just to leave the step sequencer mode on the launchpad and everything is back to normal.

bug fix: loops longer than 8 blocks were not supported.
add : scale marked in step sequencer marking C (3 amber blocks) and A (one amber block)

Thanks

The note markers are really helpful.

It's great to hear that you are looking to add more to this script.
I can see this becoming the script the launchpad always should've had.

Happy New Year !!

Another idea I've had is press both user1 and user2 to have a page that has buttons for
opening the browser, adding to tracks, up down left right, session/arrange view etc.
Could make Live almost completely mouseless

sorry for all the suggestions I'm sure you've got enough ideas of your own lol

This is by far the best Launchpad tool I've used. A lot of thought has gone into the interface/useability and it shows.

'Precision mode' is a very clever way of getting around the 'stepped' parameter changes of the vanilla Launchpad script. Brilliant!

Thankyou so much for creating this script and sharing. 2012 just got off to a flying start for me!

Cheers,

rr

I would prefer to keep it simple, what you describe would be better done while setting up your session and dragging some midi parts onto clip slots. Not to mention i doubt it is possible to automate browser navigation from scripts.

Also, i fixed a one more thing : following Chymera's remark i improved the reponsivity of the buttons in the sequencer, this solves the problem where it would miss some of the simultaneous button presses.

2012-01-02 - bug fix: improve button response time in step sequencer (was causing problem while pressing multiple buttons at once)

Hey man.

I'm enjoying this quite a bit. Though some questions-
The device selector saves me a lot of mapping conflicts. Enjoy this quite a bit. However, I don't really understand the stepseq at all. I had the idea of using this with slice-to-midi drum racks for rearranging samples and such but, with a wince of shame, cannot for the life of me figure what's going on on either mode. The mute lanes I understand, though the other one, the green user2, just looks like a bunch of midi conflicts lighting up, no difference whatsoever to what I select. Anyone have some insight to share?

Also, this is really trivial, but are you, or anyone else, familiar with the LaunchpadColour remote script?
http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php? ... &p=1245986
This is a python script for adjusting the LED colors for those with trouble discerning between the default yellow standby / green active scheme. I'm quite fond of it, been using it for some time now, but since switching to LP85, I have trouble adjusting back. What I'm getting at, I think, is I wonder if there's a way to combine the color API mod to this remote script. Does that make any sense?

Thanks again, I'm really glad people are still writing for the Launchpad. 'swhat makes this box so exciting, what makes the monome community so enticing: the motivation behind it all. This script was very well done, and I'm stoked everyone's getting something out of it.
