arpegiator timing problems

Post by sineman » Sat Feb 19, 2005 7:23 pm

I'm using a Novation X-Station with Ableton Live 4 on a G4 laptop. When I play the X-station synth with midi from Live ,the arpegiator on the X-station is sometimes out of time. Sometimes its ok and the next time its not. The bpm of the arpegiator is set to the same tempo as the project and 'key sync' is on . I can play the arp in time no problem from the keyboard but when it's played via midi it's just not in sync. Is this a latency issue (this is my first actual synth and the first time I've actually used an external device with midi)?

Any advice would be great!

Frustrated of Manchester!

timing offset external midi gear

Post by FrankH » Sun Feb 20, 2005 7:06 pm

Me 3, i also have problems with the timing.

I record midi-clips in Live and via midi-out play them on my external gear.
The information send by the midi-out-port seems to need a negative offset of about 20-40ms.

You can give a Sync Delay offset on Midi-Clock and Midi-Timecode. But it is NOT possible to correct the Midi Delay of notes played by clips.

We urgently need a function to set a (negative) offset for midi-clips.

"We urgently need a function to set a (negative) offset for midi-clips. "

Agreed. The more sync adjustment fields made available, the better! :)
