No. R&R users were getting screwed big time on the original upgrade price.

The only thing that has irritated Ableton users is no version 9 or 64 bit.

Funny the most popular DAW on the Music Radar poll was a 32 bit app and of course Ableton was high on the list.

just watched their promo vid. the props make a big deal about their time-stretching, can anyone confirm how good it is compared to live?

Because majority doesn't want to sacrifice the CPU efficiancy just for getting fancy 64bit native tag. Only software geeks want.

Absolutely brilliant, even if you think the rest of Reason is rubbish just that algo is worth it. It makes perfect match with Live which I use for time corrections etc and Record "to be Reason 6" for melodic stuff. I am not the only one, see Freemasons interview

I would.. but i wouldnt use it much due to no VST support.... however.. at least its stable.... its the Anti-Live
Then you should cut back from Vsti and use Live's own instruments.

One DAW is enough, and the rewiring process is too uncomfortable to work with on my machine.

Ableton wouldn't be that ill-advised to put their company in that position in the first place.

It's my opinion that the Props have done this because it deflects all the negative comments they were getting in regards to it not being a very exciting upgrade for R/R users.

I really like their response to what was bad press as it shows they can be flexible and in doing so have turned things around.

All R/R users should be quick on this one.....the "pay what you think it's worth" window is only open for a month, so get in there and take advantage of this brilliant offer.

i think this offer is because long term reason users that are supporting propellerheads
are sure the ones that has bought record 1 - so another programm ( wich merged with your installed reason ).

so if a reason 4 user just bought reason 5 ( without record ) and now would go for reason 6 he
had an price advantage. a user like me - wo jumped on record - could ask "why did i bought record
when i get its functionality now in the reason update cycle?"

maybe this is only a smart move to give loyal customers something back.

it is a clear and fair way to treat customers.

and so, if a user now gets reason 6 for 1€ - its ok. for the user AND for propellerhead.

It's a generous move on PropellerHeads part.

But you're fooling yourself if you think 1 euro is 'fair' price for the upgrade.

No, I think they were fooling themselves when they set the original upgrade price for people who already invested in the Reason Record Duo.

As others said already, this move was made to defuse the complaints on their forum, and recompense the users who invested in their failed Record software.

As such it's a smart move that may help them retain their users - something they badly need to do as they enter what appears to be a new phase.

Ignoring my point..
..and they didn't actually charge anyone that price.
Instead they went with a "name your own price" scheme, and now you've got dudes telling themselves 1 euro is a fair price for the upgrade

Not that I give a shit about people paying 1 euro, but if they do so they should be telling themselves "haha, sweet" instead of "this is fair"

Plus there's a certain irony in bitching (perhaps rightfully) about a proposed upgrade price, and then turning around and paying a single euro if given the opportunity.

:D

That's only for October... after that the upgrade price returns to the one that caused so many complaints already...

It's the intro discount price for paid up Duo owners, as set by Propellerhead.

If Propellerhead advertising says "you can pay just $1.00" and in the next minute says "we think that's basically rather unfair" - and I think that is what their video says - then they are actually being pretty manipulative IMHO, and I'm not very keen on that ... :?
