Please recommend a desk
Re: Please recommend a desk
4x8 cabinet grade oak ply thickest you can afford
(4) 3" threaded galvanized pipe
(4) 3" pipe flange
Cut ply to size you want
Get the guy at the local hardware store to cut and thread the pipe to height
Screw flange to bottom of cut ply
Stain and seal
Done
Prolly costs around $150

Downside to this design is you really need to be over 6ft tall and at my 5'10...this wasn't a great setup. I did however take a cue from it and made my own new set up. It is tall enough to accomodate me standing when I want a more "playing music" feel as well as low enough to sit in the chair and play out some chords and fully utilize my APC's. Shelves are nice and big on sides to hold a good portion of my records...and the expedit case is customizable to hold turntables or whatever gear I may get into down the road. And table space is plentiful. here's my final version for a mere $160ish through Ikea...

That's the desk I made out of the ikea shelves. Works out awesome for both storage...surface access...and can easily fit a 49key board on a slide out shelf.
Unless youre over 6 ft tho...forgo the lack shelf because it will stand huge.

Not too different from mine: Middle Atlantic MDV-DSK. Super stable & well-built. Mine is older & has 6U rack space instead of the 4U that they currently sell.djadonis206 wrote:I ended up getting this desk.

I make all my music in the closet.
I'm staying in the closet!
