Possible to create multiple versions of a track in arrangeme

Let's say I make a bass line in arrangement mode, and then I had a better idea.

Is it possible to record the new bass line, but save the original bass line?

Obviously you can just record a new track, but then you would have 2 bass tracks, and you would have to mute one in order to hear the two.

Is there a way to neatly organize takes like this? (be able to switch back and forth between versions, etc)
