Corrective EQ on headphones, bad idea?
Is it a bad idea to adjust the overall EQ setting on my laptop when it comes to production? I'm specifically referring to the waves graphic EQ that comes pre-installed on dell xps-15 machines, the ones with a realtek soundcard. I lowered the 30Hz range by about 2dB to get things to sound more balanced on my headphones because the subbass was too strong and made things seem muddy (I have no idea why, but it seems to make the low-mids less coherent). I didn't change anything else, just lowered the subbass and lowered 60Hz by 0.5dB. I was just wondering if anyone knows whether or not this would color the sound or throw off a mix in any way. Thanks.

Do what u like. U can switch it off later when u get in the studio.

Im still wondering about the next step...
say that you are on your monitors - corrective EQ on the master bus
how would you go about mastering this on the same monitors? cant further process it with the corrective eq there now can you?
take the EQ off and it doesn't sound right and you cant further process something that way..
what is the solution?
