Do you work under less than optimal conditions?

Yes, it's okay to work with iPod ear buds to sketch out ideas that I'll properly mix when I can.

I wouldn't..
mainly because I won't be enjoying the process...
I need bass in my face..!!!
(I wouldn't mind if the earphones give a nice solid low-end.. but those cheap in-ears rarely do)

as for genelecs 24/96 etc. that's a whole different thing..
