How to acheive a modern Dub Bass Sound

Post by Mattofix » Tue Nov 08, 2011 6:11 pm

How do I go about obtaining a bass sound like in this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g7tTNmB ... re=related (0:57)

I currently am using Trillian and then messing with the EQ but it doesn't sound great.

That sounds like an 808 kick drum for the bass.

Have you tried using a simple sine wave maybe with some (or rather lots) of compression? Operator makes fantasic subby dub basses. Use the default patch, maybe with a very short pitch mod, like you'd use for a kick, but much shorter/faster decay.

1. Nice tutorial.

2. I'm pretty sure I need to put Hoy hacemos un SUB BASS on my business cards now.

3. Isn't it lovely that the Spanish verbs for "make" and "do" are the same word? There's some serious wisdom inherent in that fact.

they are telling you how to make bass sounds, not kick sounds. its a common technique - pitch and filter 808 kick and toms.
