Generator (Automat) !!

Post by AdamJay » Fri Feb 25, 2005 4:35 pm

thanks to Vercengetorex for pointing me in the direction of this....

edit: Generator is now known as Automat.

"Generator is the logical next step after Buzzer2. Take all the nice things from Buzzer2, add antialiased Oscilators, a new filter, a flexible modulation engine and a new GUI (which provides enough room for future extentions) and you've got a new toy to make even more serious noiZe!"

the only unfortunate thing is its Apple Audio Unit only, but man is it powerful (and processor effecient too), and free.

as far as cpu effeciency goes... its relatively good.

the most complex patch i can make, 3 oscillators, modulation, and all fx engaged - as a 4 part chord never goes above 14% on the G4 1.5ghz, and as monophonic its 8%.

i think compared to other softsynths, your G3 may far well.

well then theres hope to be had :)

cant wait to move into a powerbook though

although i fear the price of a pc notebook may prove too tempting in the long run

i just want all my plugins to match on both my machines dammit!

Holy crap, this thing is fantastic!

This synth with the "Tiny Rhodes" patch has now become a permant part of my Live template.

It's really really great.

Thanks for the tip!

time to petition them to make a pc version as well.

I think my G300 900/384 is the ultimate performance test. I'll let you know :)

Great synth but i have trouble installing the presets that come with the 0.1.2 version.
I try to put the presets in Macintosh HD:Library:Audio:Presets:alphakanal:Generator:
but they dont show up when i try to use Generator in Live.

ive got them working in:

home/library/audio/presets/alphakanal/generator

i took the presets out of their respective folders, and have the 45 preset files all in the 'generator' folder.

i'm not sure if that's necessary, but it's workin for me.

Hi
That worked but only after i also moved the component to my home/lib/audio/plugins/components.
Guess i messed up the install in the first place :-)

looks like the developer (Stiwi) has been "kindly" asked to rename his Generator synth by Native Instruments.
It seems that "Generatr" was the original name of "Reaktor".

He's removed the Generator page until he comes up with something new... lets hope its soon =)
GNR8R would do lol.

its too bad too, Generator is a perfect name for that synth...

fairwell....

when i first saw this thread i actually thought it might be about the original NI Generator :?

it was spelled with the "o", btw. i think Stiwi just typo'd it.
