I've tried the demo...IMO worst update ever. 3D GUI (i hate 3D GUIs), exciter sounds different than in 4th version and i don't like it compared to the old one. And generally no new useful things for me. So im staying with Ozone 4

P.S I love Ozone

Bought Ozone 4 a number of months ago, got an e-mail today from iZotope with an upgrade serial for 5.

Awesome.

Haven't had a chance to mess with it too much, but I like the interface updates. Feels less Matrix-y.

Based on the upgrade list alone I don't think I would have paid for it, but I'm definitely glad to have it.

I just tried it and was very impressed. I think the exciter sounds wwwaaayyy better, the reverb is actually usable now, the controls are better in the multiband compressor, and the new limiter models sounds smoother than any of the older ones even when they were set to mellow settings.

I have Ozone 4 but probably will not upgrade cuz I now tend to use the following plug-ins instead of the modules inside Ozone..

1. FabFilter Pro-L for limiting
2. Fabfilter Pro_Q for EQ
3. Valhalla Shimmer for Reverb
4. Vengeance MBC for compression
5. Vengeance Stereo Bundle for imaging
6. no exciter needed..

I haven't tried it yet, but the demo is downloaded and I'm hoping to give it a go next week. I don't like most of the modules in Ozone, but the Limiter and dithering have always been right up there for me in the past. I like the fact that the advanced version lets you break out the different modules now, and the ability to sum multiple channels into one Spectrum Analyzer I would think would appeal to a lot of people here.

My only real complaint about Ozone in the past has been that by putting all the modules into one device, a lot of people seem to assume they're supposed to use ALL of them all the time.

Agree with the EQ and MBC. Not tried the stereo bundle yet. The exciter is the only thing i use on Ozone and I do like it, but if the Vengeance stuff tops it then that's the way to go I think

I've been trying out the demo as well, though I haven't tried Ozone 4 and can't provide any comparisons with it.

Which bit is the 3D GUI you mention?
There's a 3D waterfall style spectral visualizer in the "Bridge Meter" ... is that what you don't like?

Can you describe what sounds different about the exciter that you don't like?

Some forums are so entertaining; full of half baked opinions and ideas (including my own)!
