throw an auto filter after any synth with a noise generator, or white noise sample in a simpler.

he means risers and downers, wooshes and sweeps.

yeah on a synth just have 1 oscillator set to noise turn other oscillators off and while holding the note on sweep a band pass filter up and down. tweek the resonance to add more bite if you like and try different filter types. add reverb and ping pong delay. maybe some chorus or a phaser. thats the basis the rest is down to your tweaking

there are also many sample packs out there with these sort of fx too.

There are some good youtube vids with tips on this sort of thing if you hunt around. Playing around with the ideas in these should not only help you out on how certain aspects of Live work but give you plenty of creative ideas on how to make your own effects.

Nice quick tip thingy from QuantizeCourses:

Also might want to check this quick tip on messing with delays since it can produce some cool stuff:

This one from Tom Cosm is much longer but there's some great little hints in there and always find him an interesting guy to watch working through stuff:

Personally I'm liking Grain Delay a lot for this sort of sound, especially automating the pitch along with it's other effects.

Open Live

Spend time playing with:
- synths
- effects
- timing
- re-arrange drums(hits or loops) into buildups/fills

Record/consolidate

Stick in a folder so I can find them when needed

that's about it.. just go nuts for an hour and take the best bits you come up with

Yeah, white noise, filter cutoffs, feedback, sends, and reverbs are your friends when it comes to said subject matter.

Play with the "fade to grey" effect too, works great for transitions but gets old when used a lot, but you could also use with the other suggestions given.
