Chainsaw style bass synth
Hi all,
been watching some guides on youtube for making dubstep in ableton, and it seems to rely heavily on that "chainsaw bass", anyone know of a good download for one? been searching but can't find one anywhere.
If not, then some tips on creating one out of the basses already on live?
Cheers

It's really easy to do with ANY sample using Sampler (or Simpler, I guess)
just make a really small loop point in the right place and modulate the filter to taste, then for extra coolness do the same with the pitch.

Even if it sounds like an actual chainsaw, for any good solid bass, the sub part will most likely be a pure sine, triangle or square wave. The mid to upper parts are commonly completely separate sounds, which is where the chainsaw part comes in. The 2 seaprate parts are just reading from the same midi notes.
Throw a rock song into Simpler or Sampler and make it use 1 voice so it's monophonic and turn up the glide to around 200ms. Turn on the Loop, make the looping section REALLY small like the section can't get any smaller(turn on Snap); turn up the crossfade a smidge. You're basically using the tiny looping section to find your oscillator. This is where you have to search for what you're looking for. While you're holding down a note, scroll SLOWLY through the whole song until you find what you like.

Re: Chainsaw style bass synth
did you mean Me post an example or OP? Cuz I'm at work.
If anyone searches "Operator" though they'll come across some stuff. I there's a recent post where someone made a rack of 3 operators that sounds pretty good.
