Tap along to it to get the tempo, then turn on the metronome...

What do you mean with tap along? Place warp markers?
If so, I have tried, and it's really not easy..

music doesn't always come easy. practice, put in your time, do some work.

surely you can find the original full track, play that alongside the acapella and line up the two vocal tracks.

yes, acapellas can be tricky to work with and Live only does so much for us. at some point you have to be a musician to make things happen.

....my how encouraging, why not just say FOAD

this can be one of the most time consuming, mind-numbing things to get right...having the original track def helps , but not necessary

this shows one way...

http://www.youtube.com/user/kristikrisislives

he uses the kick(1) as a guide, i like to use the snare bc its easier to hear, but whatever works

if the pella is getting warped alot, make sure the warp type is set to Complex, or ComplexPro, not Beats

OK, fuck off and die Simmerdown.

sometimes you just have to do work. learning can be frustrating and painful but sometimes you have to bang your head on the desk before things click. Live has some cool tools but sometimes people forget they're making music, not an Excel spreadsheet.

you should be able to discuss this without the personal attacks. if you don't like my advice keep it to yourself. my advice is what I do, you have a different opinion, that's fine, no need for the whining.

You just have to twist shit until you get it right. There's no automatic way.

The first track over at the

Ableton Artist Collaboration - Community Outreach Program

has warped acapellas.

Thanks!

i've always just done it by ear. place the first word in the accapella right where it fits against the track, pin it, then start moving the following words around until they sound right, pin them and move on etc

Another method I don't think has been mentioned is to slice the acapella to a new MIDI track, then adjust the slices so each one is a word or phrase, whichever works better. Play the beat back, and either draw/play the slices in where you need them. Sometimes this is easier/faster than warping for me.

The video that simmerdown mentioned shows the guy tapping along to it, which is what I suggested in the first reply...

Meh.
