Im not sure if this is realted or if anyone else has had issues - but I ahve a nio and struggling to get it to work with ableton but on the audio side of things.

It works for a few minutes, then the audio starts to break up... then nothing. the main out in Ableotn is stiull outputing a signal so im assuming the prob is the Nio.

I shut down restart and it works...then splutters out.

Ive been using the nio and ableton togteher for 23 yrs - no probnlems iuntil now. The only change in my studio is the addition of a hardware synth - but cant see why that would effect audio.

Naturally Ive tried to uninsatal the drivers and re-isntall - but doing this on a mac doent seemn anyway near as simple as on a PC (one of the few things that arnt..)!

Another thing is I have to set up the audio ins and outs every time i start live (ie in Preferenes).

And sometimes there are many isntances of nio in the pull down menu sometimes as amany as 5.

Not sure if thats a clue.

i'm getting the midi problem more and more. It seems i only had luck with this random issue till now.
and i always get the "audio is disabled" at startup and i have to choose nio everytime as input and output. i usually get 2 instances of nio in the list but only the second one works otherwise no sound (however the message disappears). this is the case from 8.2.6 and up but older versions are fine.
another issue is not live related. the audio is muted in every application and i had to disconnect then reconnect the usb cable to solve this.

yess! finally.
it solved all the problem.
but the (not so) funny thing is i have sent a lot of emails to novation and they denied that the problem ever existed.
the release notes doesn't say a word about these issues in snow leo but some issues with lion. this is just lame and unpro but at the end i am

Being the OP of this thread, I have to say that I had my issue solved.

After installing version 1.4, released last april all works 100% now.

I'm not bashing Novation, but indeed the release notes don't mention a thing about OSX 10.6.8 (snow leopard).

That sucks a bit because I was aware of this release for a couple of months now, and never bothered to install it until I decided to try and solve the issue by myself...Which led me eventually to my own thread here. LOL Talk about full circle,eh?

Anyway, all works in case someone else is wondering.

Just upgraded to to mountain lion... Holding my breath... Will try it tonight!
