Mic Isolation/Vox Guard

For those who record vocals, I've been considering getting a Mic IsolationGuard (Auralex Mudguard in particular). This may seem like a silly question, but since the isolation guard is basically right in front of the singers face, do you think is more of a distraction than its worth? I don't have a vocal booth and I think this would help - but it sucks your putting up a "wall" right in their face.
