These guys looks like great programers. Not so great GUI designers, this looks absolutely horrible. Talk about an uninspiring visual! You'd think after 20 plus years of DAW design they would at least consider all the advances that have been made in that respect.

I'm curious what people think looks good when it comes to GUI stuff.

Assuming the following:
Bitwig.com wrote:Device nesting
Devices can contain other devices, and the whole package can be saved as a preset. Many of our instruments and effects use nesting in new and powerful ways.
How do you feel your needs won't be met?
Well it's too early to tell, but from what is shown in the description about nested devices and in the videos, these are ways to essentially include effects with instruments or with other effects, so basically chains, but with some interesting additions, like the ability to put effects within the feedback path of the delay (which is very cool!). So it is similar to Live's old method of saving device chains, but more powerful. This does not necessarily have anything to do with a rack or assignable macros. There is nothing mentioned about the ability to layer multiple instruments in a single track and there is no mention about being able to assign parameters to a custom layout like you can with racks. It's too early to tell, however my guess is that there would be some screen shot of a rack type device if it were possible yet. If this is the case, I wouldn't leave Live for it.

I like the gui though as well as tracks allowing midi or audio. What I'd really like is for them to be somewhat modular in the routing within a track, to do things like having a midi fx on the same track as an instrument and be able to have midi sent to both, splitting the signal by keyrange, or being able to send midi from one instrument to another on the same track. You can do these things with Kore, but if a DAW could natively do it that would cool.

That one made me laugh pretty good. We do that at my work.

Seems exactly what I hoped Live 9 would be..

64 bit..
session automation
multiple audio chunks per clip (for ease of arrange)

I would try it
2.8ghz Quad Mac, Live 9.77, Remote25, Maschine 1, Fa-66 optical link, Samson 65a. Dog hair.. lots.

Damit, late to the party! But condra:

Im loving the per note automation, and loads of other stuf.
But yeah, it looks pretty much like a copy. Whatever happens,
im personally to tied up with Live to leave it. At least a couple of years.

But we really needed news like this.
The forum has been at a melt down of boringness lately.
This will (hopefully) keep it fresh untill L9 is announced. Fingers crossed....

Bitwig doesn’t yet seem to have dedicated hardware. That’s a huge plus for Live.
