Geschäftsführer = managing director
I slipped into a daze, whilst I was there I heard the most startling music, it was at once familiar and alien, reassuring and unsettling.

If the program works really well I may use it. As far as copying goes I don't get it. If these guys helped develop Live, then they essentially aren't copying.
For that matter Logic, Cubase, DP and Sonar are all copies of each other. Every Tracker is a copy of the others. Hell? Windows copied the Mac OS which was based on a copy of a project from Xerox. Basically every good idea is capitalized on, and often the "copy" is better than the original.

That said, I was hoping they would have something like the deep zooming editing in Traction instead of a freaking subwindow for editing. Wondering what the CPU consumption is like in it VS Live?

My biggest question is what it's like in terms of live performance? There are a few things that Live doesn't do well that Mainstage does and Kore did that I would like to see directly in a live performance DAW. Switching between instruments and FX in a live performance, assignable global MIDI commands (to anything), a way to network multiple computers and use resources CPU wise from the slave computers, nested launch sequences (the ability to assign different "follow action" functions to the same clip depending on which macro clip is fired etc.)

Like people have said looking forward to the competition and the hopefully improved workflow that gives. Worst cast scenario both companies start a 'feature' war where they half ass implement features in a race to say they have feature X, like a lot of older DAWs have....

And MIDI. It wasn't on the page, so as "far as we know Bitwig Studio does not/cannot" have MIDI support.

Also no mention of bit/sample rates, so it probably doesn't have an audio engine at all.

Make sure to tell all your friends.

It clearly has MIDI and given the VST support we an easily speculate about bit rates etc. To suggest it has all the stuff that Ableton have taken ten years to implement - such as the stuff I listed - is a little silly though. The reality is that:
1) if it had stuff like groove templates, video support, etc they would certainly have listed it
2) people who are used to Live will find Bitwig Studio much more basic in many ways.

Essentially we're looking at audio as per Live 2, MIDI as per Live 4, some stuff that has been requested for Live 9, a few bits from in between but with much of the significant stuff from 3-8 missing.

What a great timing to start a new Company, that offers a DAW that looks like a Ableton Live Clone,
but offers all the things, people in this forum are waiting for. (64bit integration etc...)

The fact that Ableton announced nothing in the past, for quite a long time, plays into the cards of the Bitwig team, as long as Ableton does´t come up with something promising new for their loyal customers.

Personally I think Bitwig looks like a mixture of #Ableton #Live and #Cubase.
and I am curious if there will be #lawsuits by Ableton, much like Apple did in the near past.
Setup:
Ableton L11 beta, MAX8, Push2, Monome, Guitars and Kemper-Amp

Reaktor is not thirdparty application for Maschine. It depends on where you define it.

I think Bitwig and Live are from the same company, just another way to earn money by competing yourself! :D

I'll judge it once ive used it.

There have been alot of assumtions made here that really can not be justified until the whole piece of software has been explored and used.

But for now 'per-clip automation' has me interested...
