Lack of clip automation is real. But curious, have you considered just printing your knob movements to audio. I use hardware synths so I'm kind of forced to record my takes, but I find I end up with usable parts and I don't have to worry about fader and knob takeover issues. The midi is turned to audio with all the twists and turns.

I find myself twisting and turning for up to 100 bars sometimes - real nice long parts.

Any evidence yet that Bitwig does not share the same MIDI latency issues that Live has been lumbered with for years?

To this day I still cannot sync an Electribe ESX with software synths and other hardware, in Live.

Because now that Live is 64-bit capable, decent MIDI timing and dual monitor support are the only two things that I am desperate for.

Uh, you do realize bitwig won't support rewire nor has any plans on implementing it?
the great jpeg speaks to us all differently.

will not happen. I want this since I have live.

I guess rewire is the wrong way, we just need a way for a sample accurate sync between DAWS.

I think that sample accurate sync between DAWs would require some kind of "global" delay compensation across different DAWs. It may be possible in theory, but would need protocol agreement and implementation of the manufacturers which is unlikely to happen.

Also, I guess that the rewire protocol doesn't support delay compensation and for this reason Live as rewire slave doesn't allow 3rd party plugins (including M4L devices) since those by design introduce latency depending on the audio buffer.
