Is this THE Dream Computer?

NemeSys X64 allows up to 8GB of RAM and 15,000 RPM hard drives.

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as 15,000 RPM hard drive.

The Verari Systems 64-bit Digital Audio Workstation (DAW64) allows up to
16GB of RAM

I bet they are as expensive as an average family car as well. 8O

Also memory is a bit slow by todays standards.

yeh, 'what were they thinking?' ... still, interesting link, makes you think. There are some very very powerful rackmount servers.

SCSI.... Think now-a-days the access times and transfer rates are just
bout the same using cheaper SATA drives.

(Surely the 7500's are cheaper than this and perform "ok" compared to SCSI)

Rack-optimized: 4U rack-optimized system harnessing the power of the AMD Opteron™ processor to deliver new levels of power and performance.
4RU is rather big to carry around to gigs..... I have a couple of 4RU cases
and they are bout as heavy as computers come. However at least it has
room, the 1 or 2RU cases are really cramped and only suit certain gear.

Depends on who you are, really. Lots of bands have equipment racks that they carry around with them; it'd be easy for them to just add this into their rack. For example, I saw GWAR the other day (hehe), and they had a 1/2 and 1/3 cabinet filled with audio processing gear. God knows why this particular band would need so much equipment, but hey, who am I to judge? =)

Thing is an ATX 4RU case is bout twice as deep as all your outboard
effects and amp gear so it doesn't fit in the same racks unless they are
the huge pro stadium band size.
