bout the same using cheaper SATA drives.

4RU is rather big to carry around to gigs..... I have a couple of 4RU casesRack-optimized: 4U rack-optimized system harnessing the power of the AMD Opteron™ processor to deliver new levels of power and performance.
and they are bout as heavy as computers come. However at least it has
room, the 1 or 2RU cases are really cramped and only suit certain gear.

Depends on who you are, really. Lots of bands have equipment racks that they carry around with them; it'd be easy for them to just add this into their rack. For example, I saw GWAR the other day (hehe), and they had a 1/2 and 1/3 cabinet filled with audio processing gear.
