CPU spikes during GUI operations: select, resize, drag, etc.

Post by two_masks » Mon Feb 27, 2012 7:05 am

I've been suffering from this for quite some time, but keep neglecting to post about it. Am I the only one that gets significant CPU spikes any time I perform simple GUI operations in a fairly complex set?

I'm working on track now that averages around 25% CPU usage as reported by Live's meter. Any GUI operations I undertake while playback is active lead to a big jump in CPU (> 50%) and a ton of glitching. This is incredibly frustrating.

I'm running Live 8.2.8 on a 2.8GHz quad core i7 Mac. OS X 10.7.3, 8GB ram, and an SSD as my primary HDD. Audio interface is an Apogee Duet 2 @ 44.1KHz, 192 sample buffer, though I experience the same thing through my first-gen MOTU Ultralite.
