Playing out live-External HD/File Format

Hi Guys

I'm staring to think about playing out live/Djng with Ableton.

Things I want to know are-

do people stick to wavs or use max quality mp3?

Seeing as I got 500Gb on my HD, I'm figuring I shouldn't need an external HD for gigging, but how does anyone with an external Desktop HD set up at home have it set up?

Apologies if these seem a bit basic questions, but I reckon its worth double checking

So people who are playing out live, do have all you're stuff on your laptops/MBP hard drive or do use and external?

What file formats do you use? i.e. WAV/HIgh Res mp3/AIFF

What sort External HD set ups do people have at home?

Internal drive and I always use wavs. Live converts mp3s to wavs and caches them anyway before it plays them, so it's possible mp3s will ultimately use more space than just using wavs in the first place. Check out Abletonlivedj.com too, lots of us Live djs over there to answer these kinds of questions
