a question about sends and returns

Post by greenscreens » Mon Mar 05, 2012 2:37 am

hey this might be an amateur question, and i hope i explain this correctly

basically im wondering if there is a setting to have to have sends in such a way that when the send is 100 percent it has the same gain structure as if "sends only" was clicked, but if the send is at 0% you hear the dry signal being sent to the master. i hope that makes sense!, so whenever you would toggle a send to its max value it would be completely sent to the return without going to the master.

I think what you want is commonly known as "magic sends".
it uses the Utility device in parallel on the return channel to provide a phase inverted copy, so subtracting the sent signal from itself - leaving only the effected output at the master.

it's simpler than it probably reads.

There are video tutorials and other stuff around, either google or a search of this forum with that term will dig up something.
