chill man. I have a differing opinion on tech jobs, mine comes from living that life. what is yours based on? simple question. good day at work, had a long lunch on the company credit card, now it's time to listen to tunes and write some code. probably take tomorrow off, definitely Friday.

Sorry if I felt a bit peaved for being described as ranting and clueless I thought it was clear in my post. I spent 30 years in the electronics industry. Specifically tellecoms.

I'm talking from personal experience too. Over the years I played a major roll in many projects and invested a lot of intelectual and emotional energy and long hours. Now all the stuff I worked on is just landfill.

Since being made redundant I still play with technology and do some programing, but the main focus of my life is now music and it feels great. But I think I spent my life doing the wrong thing - a mistake that is all to common.

Also the 3 best paid people that I know personally all have psychology degrees.

ahh, nice to meet you. ;) tellecom... totally understood. I worked for one once. every time a phone company twitched we'd either have layoffs or big bonuses. I did that for 14 months and then found my current job, been here since '98. interesting to hear about different paths.

and yeah, sorry, I can be a dick, I'm an engineer, you know the type. brash male dominated work environment, bunch of socially retarded assholes but I appreciate working with some brilliant minds.

[quote="Tone Deft"] every time a phone company twitched we'd either have layoffs or big bonuses./quote]

Seimens spent about 20 years taking over the european market then suddenly decided there was no money in it and sold it all off !

No hard feelings anyway. As fellow accoustic guitar toting, ableton live using, electronics engineers we need to show solidarity.

I currently have no resistance to the potential in that.
