fav wave editor for OS X ?
Hi,
I'm wondering what your favorite OS X wave editor is?
I am not too happy with Audacity, and i think it's very strange that there is no wavelab/soundforge equivenlent.
So,
What's your favorite OS X wave editor?
THX,
Jason

Re: fav wave editor for OS X ?
I like audacity.... on osx, I will agree that it's a bit glitchy. Anyways, on mac, I usually go with cubase for anything complex and soundstudio for basic recording and other operations.
Cubase works for what I need, but honestly I'm only using it because it came for free with my soundcard. I really wish that adobe would port audition to mac... I've ranted here about audition before, but I believe it is really the best resampling/remastering tool on the market atm.
Until then, it's my token "keeping me on windows" application. Well, maybe that and grand theft auto 3... hehe.

DSP-QUATTRO!!!!
http://www.i3net.it/Products/dspQuattro/
$149 for version 2 and its worth 3 times that easily.
computer music magazine has a DVD with a "lite" but very functional version of DSP-Quattro v1.5 right now as well.

DSP Quattro, www.dspquattro.com
24in Imac/MBPro UNibody, Ableton Live 8 Suite ,Logic Pro 8, Liquid Mix,
hrms, I tried this out awhile back (from the free mag version, I believe) and wasn't really that impressed. Is the actual full version that much better?AdamJay wrote:DSP-QUATTRO!!!!

yea 2.0 is indeed that much better. at least for me.
but it depends on what you didn't like about it.
For me, my habits are locked into Soundforge, so i hated the Peak 4 workflow, and never really got into Audacity. DSP Quattro reminded me enough of Soundforge, but also gave me a few bonuses that makes me like it even more (it draws the waveform insanely fast on my 1.5ghz G4)
i've found with wave editors, habits die reaaallly hard.
such as i've changed the wave form color scheme (normal and when highlighted) in Quattro to the same as Soundforge.

"non-destructive normalizing" = "gain"... this isn't the same thing.pepezabala wrote:exacto. and this keeps the original file as it is, it's non-destructive normalising.noisetonepause wrote:Just gain it and keep an eye on the waveform?sqook wrote: Normalize?

This is like saying:
"Well, tell me one thing you can't do with a motorcycle that you can with a car."
"How about taking a road trip during the winter?"
"You can always wear a coat!"
But its really a problem that there are no good waveeditors for OSX i know... In the moment i use logic that has a pretty good sample editor but this is by the overhigh price not really an option as an assistant program to live...
Actually i think Live should include the missing functions like truncation , normalize/gainchange, sample draw and convertion...
So far protools is the best Sampleeditor for osx i came along...but you need the bloody hardware...
Soundhack is good for sample conversions...but no graphical editing and therefore not a real sampleeditor.
The discontinued spark was pretty good but impossible to repair clicks by drawing waveforms...
Wavelab for Mac would be nice... Maybe Live on Pc is really easier for a lot of reasons
