Free guide to success in the music industry

Post by darzhliebek » Mon May 14, 2012 7:00 pm

Hi everyone, thought this would be of interest to fellow Abletoners!

Over the past couple of years we've been planning, researching, interviewing and finally writing a book on how to make it in the music industry. This is pretty much the world's first guide to building success in the music industry and features knowledge from loads of artists, from Sasha to Layo & Bushwacka to Paul Woolford, Bok Bok, Davide Squillace... as well as experts from the fields of productivity, marketing, and business.

It got rated 9/10 in Future Music (June 2012 issue) which we are pretty stoked with!!

It's NOT just how to make tracks like a certain artist - we don't need more of those, we want new creative artists to shine through. While it includes advanced production techniques it includes everything that goes around it - motivation, efficiency, artist image, good marketing techniques, business.

We didnt want to write another book on music production, this is for people that already know the basics of production and want to make a career out of music.

You can get the free guide from the website, so you can check out the content before buying. The full book is available in paperback, kindle and eBook too.

Really hope you guys get as much out of reading it as we have writing it, and we're always happy to hear your thoughts.

Cheers,
D

Hopefully not. We stayed away with trends, gimmicks and short-lived cheese to favour the long-term game, making something that will appeal to others while still staying true to what you want to do. Check out the free guide:

I hadn't actually seen that KLM book! Although it looks like it is more chart than club/electronic orientated. Is that pretty much the whole thing on the website??

The KLF book will be pretty outdated now, and comes from a pre-internet era,, although probably still a funny read.

It's worth remembering that Bill Drummond came from a position of producing and managing the Bunnymen and the Teardrops, also of doing A&R for Warner . Furthermore, he's a complete individual lunatic.
I have no idea what J Cauty is like. All Drummond stories come to me filtered through Liverpool myth and legend.

I think I'd like to read it and I'm not even planning on trying to make it in the music biz. Thanks for sharing.

The "free" version has 0 actual useful information, its essentially the preface of each chapter, and tells you what you can expect to read if you buy the book.

To be fair, that's more than you'll get for most books...
