Problem with installing ableton on new laptop

I just got a new laptop today and i have ableton on my house computer and each time i try to install it, it "Prematurely" stopped. Any reasons why?

I'm not sure that I can help, but for the people who could help, perhaps you should say what kind of computer you have, what operating system, what version of live, etc.

Computer: Dell Latitude D510
OS: Windows XP
Ableton Live 8 lite from soundcloud.

i have the same issue please tell me how install the last ableton live 8.3 on windows xp!

What computer do you have? processor speed? memory etc? does it meet the minimu system requirements?

I'm not sure this is the case but during installation programs often test the computer they are about to be installed on to see if they meet the minimum system requirements. Perhaps Live is stopping because it will not run on your computer.

Its the installer. It won't install on my brand new computer either. Windows 7 gets hung up and won't finish. I have contacted Ableton and they said I needed to update my Windows. I already did that. Their Windows installer is broken and they don't seem to want to fix it. Pathetic.

as a lion macpro "livist", there was no problem with live. but with that spare old dell laptop,

xp, family, SP3
genuine intel cpu
T2300@ 1,66Ghz
981mhz 1,99 go ram
inspiron dell 9400

==> no way to install.
it seems installed but whan launching, error etc.
such a pity, i don't understand, it should work and eventuelly not be able to play a very complex song (anyway the purpose is to play various sound as a cd player)

any ideas ?

actually, i find it odd that as a registered user/owner of AL8, i can't find and download (and use !) former version, aka, version 5 or 6 for exemple that would run smoothly on this old XP...

Fuck Live! I am having this shit again, I had Live 8 running on the same system for years and now after OS reinstall i can't install the bloody thing. I reinstalled every other program just fine, but Live would not install.
