There are some people out there who are just Copy and Pasting their generic message to every track as it comes out, without even giving it a listen, and that's pretty weak. But I have been posting my link when I make a comment but I only comment IF I've listened to the track. But I think it's evident in the comment that I actually listened. Hopefully.
:)

ya i was mostly talking about people who just put the same comment on everyones tune. kinda annoying. i have a few that have made genuine comments and those are of course always welcome. here's mine
http://contest.ableton.com/tracks/1058

not really looking for votes as much as i am suggestions on how to get better. but like i said, i had fun with this one so i'm already a winner. yeah!!

That's exactly how I feel -- this is the first track I've finished in months! It's nice to have the honest feedback of other Live users.

Just listened to your track and I like it a lot -- especially the drum breaks and little synth accents you've put in throughout the track. Did you use 3/4 or 6/4 for your Time Signature? Just curious -- sometimes I feel like it could be one, other times the other... or heavy triplet usage? Great track!

cpyatak wrote:Actually, I've found that interesting. I've gone through ALL the pages and not found my entry, and then other times I do find it. Moreover, some entries show up multiple times throughout all of the pages. I think they're randomizing it somehow, I don't think that it's even hard coded. Otherwise I should be able to go to page 89 and find mine. But it's not really working that way.

I suppose that works for avoiding the problem of a benefit going to the early submissions.

I have to say I like Mr Bill's track (the current frontrunner) but am not impressed by his promise of free downloads as a perk for voting. But I guess that's just the way it goes. It is however why I didn't give him a vote. Is that petty? Maybe. That said, as much as I'd love to go to Berlin and all, I don't really expect to win.

I think the voting is a bit whack because it depends on your friend count in social media -- not that I can think of a better way to do it. Doesn't seem to be a likely opportunity for an "unknown" with a lot of talent and potential to get a fair shake. Not complaining, just stating the obvious.
Yeah, I agree with this. Kind of realized it before I submitted my entry. Too much commenting and asking people to comment and like/vote for your stuff. But it was more just fun for me because I love junior boys and m83!

Modecai that's great! Love the fresh vocal work. Really nice mellow vibe, love what you did with the guitar, too. Thanks for sharing!

Here's another one that just popped up that I really like. It's not me, and I don't think it's anyone in this forum... at least not this thread. But I thought I'd share it with y'all. Definitely a fresh take.

there are some cool remixes out there that probably will go unnoticed for all the reasons mentioned, which is kind of a flaw in the competition setup.
it is really cool to hear how creative some ideas can be, with the same content.
i've found bunches of trawling comments on my entry, which i noticed cut and pasted on many other entries.
not sure if some of them even actually listen when they make their comment with their link to their entry.

btw, i'm entry number xxxx ;) haha
...and it's mr sakitumi (too late to change profile name)...damn

Man, are you KIDDING???

This may be the number one best remix I've heard yet. That shit is TIGHT! Followed through your soundcloud account. Man you got talent.

Seriously, post your # or send it to me on soundcloud (askew) so I can vote!

I don't even know how we can see how many vote our track has.
Is it linked to the "favourite" on soundcloud?

No, that's the trick. When you go to "view all" on the Beat the Clock Page, you have to scroll through and find your track (if you CAN) and then it'll show you how many votes you have. You can have zero favorites and many votes on your track. It'd be cool if they could have made it a little easier to track your own progress... er... vote count.

Ha yea. Just found mine...
and i got an answer from ableton about selling the track or if you own the copyright and everything.

" All three artists provided their sound for the contest with the goal to inspire the participants to create something unique themselves. The answer to your question also lies in this: If you take the sounds from the artists and use them to create something new - there will be no legal problems - as a matter of fact, you would then be the owner of the rights to your musical creation and you’ll be able to sell it or give it for free.

If you "only" copy and paste existing material without changing it, it will be protected and owned by the original creators. In this case, you won’t have the rights to sell it nor to give it away "
