I think Pink Floyd have never gone 64 bit. All their records suck.
Well the old 8bit ones have some kind of interesting texture.

If they ever do a 64 bit version of Live 8 I'll eat my hat. In fact I'm so confident there won't be one I'd buy a whole hat shop and eat that. There's no way they'd put that much massive amount of work into making a 64 bit L8 when we effectively never paid for a 64 bit version and all their effort will be going into a new version, not a version of software that's so old it's actually older than my friends son Harry, who already has intelligent conversation, his own favourite bands, and can play guitar (albeit not that well)! They'll save that for Live 9.

So back to the other old chestnut...

WHERE'S LIVE 9!!!!
WHERE'S LIVE 9!!!!
WHERE'S LIVE 9!!!!
I WANT IT NOW!!!
NOWWWWWWWWW!

As you were....

Maybe gehard should just post that live 9 is in production. There's still a reasonable bit of work to do on it, and it'll be 64 bit. That would make people calm down while basically telling them nothing at all!

Pink Floyd were infinite bit as it was all analogue. That's why their laptop never goes down and ruins the show.

So you are basically telling us that you've got at your home all the instruments, synths, outboard gear, that they had during the recording of their albums, and you can record them and play them directly instead of sampling them ? impressive!

and then came dr. doom 007 talking about big studios and tons of unaffordable gear.
sounded a bit off topic in my humble opinion.

Well I think it is still very on-topic =) (also we dodged a recursive loop which could have crashed this forum by a few).
You seem to mean that ranting about no 64 bit is pointless because others have done well without 64 bit.

What I wanted to say is that they had actually FAR LESS restrictions, in time, gear, musical instruments, than most of us solo home-studists with a 49 key keyboard and a m-audio soundcard. And 32 bit is another one of these restrictions...

And 8-bit music is pretty cool, but if you want to make an orchestral arrangement of the composition / recording of a progressive metal band with 7 guitars 3 drumkits 2 basses and 45 synths , you don't go the atari st way...
