I see some great ideas. I hope they don't limit it to iOS. I'm so sick of the extra expense to go that route. Resizable windows, custom plug in folder and a real mixer page would all be nice. Did I forget to mention iPad sucks.

What a load of old arse.
Most of those requests are basically 'I want live to be more like logic or cubase', and as for the iOS 'necessity', does that guy have the faintest idea what he's jabbering on about? I'm sure an app would be lovely, but lemur, touch osc etc all provide plenty of functionality without ableton marginalising itself from its user base by going down what is still a fairly niche market in the music production world.
Don't get me wrong, there are some good ideas on there (most of which have been done to death on this forum), but if those people are considered to be a panel of 'ableton experts', then there are plenty of people on here who must be considered 'Ableton high priests', or perhaps 'ableton grand wizards'.

This.
And the 'warmer sound' comment in the first guy's list pretty much invalidates the whole article if not the whole website for me. I'm so tired of that trope that I literally will ignore a writer / artist / website for the rest of my life if they lower themselves into that realm. Not that I previously had a high opinion of MusicRadar, which is basically just internet Ad Copy for major music instrument and software manufacturers.

Re: Ableton Live 9 new features: what we want to see
live 9 needs a brand new engine, an engine so advanced you press space bar and ableton begins making the song itself.this allows the musician more time to spend doing the important things like spamming people with generic vote begging comments copy and pasted onto 100s of accounts on soundcloud
holy shit this guy must have live 9 early.i had this posted on my soundcloud.
Josn "Hi there! Since you can not see what your rank is, I wrote a script and have a database of every track with number of votes and rank. If you want to find out how many votes you have and what your rank is please goto my track vote for it and comment - every commenter will get a private message with rank and number of votes as soon as possible (max a few hours). http://contest.ableton.com/tracks/554" about 11 hours ago
urrrrrghhhhhhhh
anyway. freezing sidechained tracks would be nice.

Bahahaha... !!!Martin Delaney, Ableton Live expert and writer for Future Music Magazine
...
"They also need a cheaper, or even free version of Max For Live."
that article is good for a few laughs...
it's pure bs from start to finish.. and the first guys' first 2 suggestions are already implemented..long time ago
it's better to stfu if you don't know what you're talking about..
that's some bad press for that specific magazin...
all and all some really petty modest suggestions..
nothing that will rock your world..
except that free m4l and Ableton ipad apps

A floating session view
Re: Ableton Live 9 new features: what we want to see
i hope they completely re-write the code... and that when you first install it and hit play on the transport control a full on fukin blizzard, complete with shards of ice, comes out of the speakers. this way when someone says "i wish it was warmer" they will actually be able to prove that it's not (for a change).

Re: Ableton Live 9 new features: what we want to see
it`s already possible! just uncheck automatic hide plugin windows in the preferences! i`m using the german version, so sorry if this is not the correct translation of this functionfunken wrote:Funkagenda, international DJ and producer
We all want the ability to look at two waveforms at once, view VSTs from two different channels simultaneously at once etc. At this point, denying your users this feature is a matter of pride rather than anything else."
You mean like this?
Re: Ableton Live 9 new features: what we want to see
I'm sure they can pretty easily live without you.mholloway wrote:XPM wrote:'m so tired of that trope that I literally will ignore a writer / artist / website for the rest of my life if they lower themselves into that realm.
If you have at least a tenth of Von Strokes ("the first guy") merits and/or production skills to present then you can be taken seriously.

Having talent doesn't prevent you from talking out your arse.
