A note from some of the pros I found through various forums. Granted some of their chains may have changed through out time. But the idea of making a good mastering chain theory is there. All about experimenting. I use Waves Gold and Izotope Ozone 5 = Great to Me.

LaidbackLuke Master Chain: Limiter, Multiband and Xciter (Izone)
DB-D Dynamics Processor, Paramtric EQ, DB-D Dynamics Processor, Fruity Balance, Master Limiter, Ozone 3
Luke on Ozone: With the limiter, just a little bit of multiband limiting and with some extra harmonizing especially on the high end part.
SonicC: Compressor--> EQ--> Compressor--> Vintage Warmer--> Limiter or Ozone with Limiter enabled
Alano Tekashi: Compressor -> EQ - > Ozone
Thomas Gold: Linear Multiband Compressor (Waves), EQ (S), SSL Single Band Compressor (Waves), Pultec EQ (Universal Audio), L3 Limiter(Waves)
SHM: T-RackS 3, SSL Compressor, L3-LL Multi, PSP Vintage Warmer
Fadi: SSL, Linear Phase Multiband Comp, Expander, EQ, Limiter
Max Vangeli: Compressor, EQ and L2 limiter. (All Waves Plugins)
Skrillex: iZotope Maximizer, maybe with a little bit of EQ and harmonic excitement

if you want quality but cheap plugins: http://www.toneboosters.com
or free plugs by https://varietyofsound.wordpress.com/

plugins are often overpriced and don't believe the marketing words. if there are demo versions, you should try them all and decide which one fits your needs the best :)
