Hi All,
Looking for some advice.
I'm about to buy a new mac laptop. It must be able to run Live 8 totally smooth.
I would like to know if the new 128gB 13-inch macbook air would be powerful enough - here are the specs
13-inch : 128GB
1.8GHz dual-core Intel Core i5 processor
Turbo Boost up to 2.8GHz
4GB memory
128GB flash storage1
Intel HD Graphics 4000
Hope you can help,
Best,
Andreas

Re: The new Macbook Air for Live 8 - a good idea?
My Personal Opinion...
Considering the new macbook pro comes with Mountain Lion (stock), I guarentee you are going to run into problems. Just like every OS upgrade there is bugs with Ableton and various VSTs/plugins. My suggestion buy it if it works it works but keep your old macbook to work on as backup. It will take Ableton awhile probably to give a update to Mountain Lion (most likely).

Forgetting about the, probably very true Mountain Lion problem, what do you think of the specs vs. what Live needs powerwise?birdhouse19 wrote:My Personal Opinion...

1. How come? The ML will be released only in July and MBA are available already now.birdhouse19 wrote: Considering the new macbook pro comes with Mountain Lion (stock)
2.Anyway it is just stupid hysteria or hysteria of the stupid the new OSX angst/phobia. Plenty of Live users do upgrades on the day one without any issues, as long as their soundcards drivers and VSTs are updated.
3. Probably just like last years the buyers of new Apple products will be given option to install "old" OS.
4. The current Airs are as powerful or better then any MBP available when Live 8 was released.
