Yamaha Motif 6 to Ableton?

I recently bought ableton suite and noticed i can plug my Motif 6 into it has a MIDI controller. i connected it and no signal. Any help? i went to preferences to see if i can somehow configure it but since i'm sorta new to Ableton, i don't really know how to yet.

maybe try changing the preferences of the midi out in the Yamaha menu.. it can be set to either USB or midi (5 pin), so just change it to whatever your using.. that's how it is for the MO series anywayz..

On the Motif do the following:
Press
Utility -> [F5]MIDI -> [SF4] OTHER
Set
MIDI IN/OUT to
USB
If you then press
STORE the Motif will remember the new setting.
You can also use the Motif
Remote Mode to control Live, read
this
