Is this possible
Whilst playing my dj set in ableton live I would like to be able to play using a midi keyboard some live elements such as arpegiated synth notes to add some more depth to the music whilst also adding a further performance element to my mix. HOWEVER I can't play the piano and have never had any formal training in playing chords keys etc.
Is there a way in ableton for me to be able to play on my keyboard and have the notes I press sound right and in key with the main music? if I know the key of the track from using a program like mixed in key is it possible for my mistakes and random key presses sound well with the music?
Thanks all

Yeah possible, just use Ableton arpeggiator. Press corresponding notes to the key it is in. Will sync to tempo etc.
Although don't use it too much. If the arp was meant to be on the track, it would already be there. If you could play interesting leads it would be a different story...

you can even use the scale midi effect after the arpegiator to be sure the note are in key.

Everything is possible when you truly believe in it.

Agreed. Except, of course:The Carpet Cleaner wrote:Everything is possible when you truly believe in it.

As if!

Also use the pitch effect to transpose the C major keys (the white keys) to your track. I think that this is a much better way of doing things. I would also recommend learning the chord progression of your track. It's not hard to add additional harmony, or even new melody over the top of tracks if you understand the chord progression.
