The 8.4 beta is coming today (according to very reliable rekkerd.org), and it includes 64 bit support. Guess that will make you happy.sigabort wrote:i'm only really interested in 1 thing - 64-bit support. Other than that, I'm really happy with Live and it does everything I need. My real fear is that 9 comes out, I have to upgrade to get 64-bit support and then it takes 12 months to get rid of the bugs.
Ideal world for me is a last update to Live 8 which makes it 64-bit
(although stuff like MaxForLive will NOT work with this beta - for now).

that would make me extremely happy...
i guessed we'd have to wait for Cycling to make MAX 64-bit before being able to use M4L... I know they've been working on it for a while tho so hopefully it won't be too far behind (I'm guessing this will come with an official support for MAX6 in M4L maybe)

Well, be happy then.

Or maybe not THAT happy, depending on your plug-in situation:digid wrote:sigabort wrote:that would make me extremely happy...

Strange stuff, this, because I am pretty sure software like Adobe Audition CS 6, which is 64 bit, can run 32 bit plug-ins just fine?

think most major plugin producers have been updating over the last 12 months or so. i guess there's going to be issues with maybe some more obscure stuff. there's always jbridge...

Not for Mac.sigabort wrote:think most major plugin producers have been updating over the last 12 months or so. i guess there's going to be issues with maybe some more obscure stuff. there's always jbridge...

that sux. i'd have thought with Logic having been 64-bit for quite some time now that it wouldn't be an issue at alldigid wrote: Not for Mac.
Re: Is Ableton dead?
Logic can magically load 32 bit plug ins if you are running it in 64 bit mode.sigabort wrote:that sux. i'd have thought with Logic having been 64-bit for quite some time now that it wouldn't be an issue at alldigid wrote: Not for Mac.
Re: Is Ableton dead?
ah, ok, so now i see why the situation exists... i take it there's no jbridge equiv for Mac then?

Re: Is Ableton dead?
So Live's unreliability and struggles will be ported to bitwig? That IS fucking great news, and it makes since too seeing that bitwig is now the company making empty claims about releases.dab wrote:They are the guys who gave you the goodies you are using now!
Ableton hasn't made a false claim since "Share" I am assuming thats right about the time the bitwig guys decided to leave.
Re: Is Ableton dead?
Ableton is alive and well. And I predict Bitwig (if it's ever released) will not prove a viable threat / much competition to their market.
I think they missed the boat.
