Adam Jay needs our help

Post by pepezabala » Fri Jul 20, 2012 2:39 pm

Hi

Some years back one of the most active members on the forum was Adam Jay, many might know him as a tecno DJ and producer.

I learnt lots of stuff about ableton and production in general from his posts. He contributed a lot. I believe he created teh first Live Performance test, so people could benchmark their machines here on the forum.

Today I saw on the analogindustries blog that he needs help to pay his hospital invoices after a serious illness. He is producing an EP using sounds he recorded from the machines that kept him alive while he was in the hospital.

I thought that some people here will be contributing by financing/sponsoring this project. I did.

Check out the whole story here: http://www.indiegogo.com/adamjay?contri ... e&a=893539

Just another reason I'm so glad I don't live in the US.

IK OBIK you are without doubt the biggest dick ever! Using a post about someone's illness to try and promote products.....in fact every post you've done is like this. Can we get this idiot banned?

I remember hearing a track on a random radio station about a year ago - I was scrambling to Shazam that shit to save for later when the DJ came on and said it was AdamJay!

It was like meeting an old friend (and I think the only time I've ever heard a forum user on the radio) because his posts had helped me a huge amount when I was starting out with Live.

The campaign doesn't say how he's doing now. Hope he's feeling better and that he reaches his target.

Adam was the main contributer of help and advice on this forum for a long time. The guy has a great combination of know-how and patience. I imagine he stopped posting here because when he was he was giving it a serious portion of his time.

I think supporting something like this would say something very positive about the electronic music scene even if only the people involved knew it. It's not a big ask to throw in 6 euro's, that's slightly more than a pint. Plus the EP is sure to be interesting.

Hey, just a quick check in to let y'all know that Adam is feeling much better physically. Thankfully, in the last year or so, he has really been taking care of himself, eating healthy, exercising and doing yoga, which is probably a huge factor in his recovery.

Thank you to everyone that helps out on this! Trust me when I say he is humbled and grateful for the outpouring of support.

Much love! <3

Adam has added some new perks to the campaign, including a $100 DJ/Producer level that includes the record with all the thanks, PLUS the entire Chroma Recordings discography, a Chroma special mix, and 9 Ableton Live Packs from Covert Operators!!!

DjShiva, you used to be around these parts a lot more too, still pushing the techno dubstep crossover?

I still delve into the bassy spectrum of things. Techno is still my main shindig, but I muck about with many sounds. :) The whole explosion of really shitty dubstep has made things...weird. I still play weird shit, and no one will book anyone that doesn't sound like robot chainsaw snuff films. :/ So I mostly just get awesome bass tunes and play them at home.

Adam and I have actually been writing a lot of techno tunes together lately though, which has been awesome and fun and a learning experience. :)

Yeah a lot of people around these parts have gone off putting on Dubstep nights for similar reason, shame really. Hopefully the good stuff will get some air in the future when people stop copying/ expecting the chainsaw stuff. At least techno is now mature enough to nurture a lot of different expectations of style.
