Construction Kits - Do you use them?

Post by gjm » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:38 am

If so, what or how?

I used one today as an emergency stop gap! My car would not start and so I could not transport my Roland TD-4 to the school I teach at. I did not want to cancel for the day so grabbed my Alesis ControlPad, my JamHub BedRoom, M-Audio sustain pedal and my macbook which has a Live Intro License. Got set up in the nik of time, loaded one of the construction kits and a Instrument Rack DrumKit and was up and running. To be honest, I had not looked at these for ages, maybe even since Live 6.

Anyways, do you get any milage from Abletons included construction kits?

nope never wanted to use them in a social context, however I've never been in a position where I was delivering a service rather than content. I wonder if they get used by people needing to make music quickly to order, y'know 20 jazzy tracks by the close of business, Hong Kong time.

I used them as an educational device. especially after I got my APC40. They are great for study and reference. If I were in a church or theater environment Id probably make my own to do the job.

I use them often in battery 3, live 9, kontakt 4, spark, etc. use them as a reference point if you are chopping records that have a similar vibe or tone start with the construction kit first then start dropping in the samples you want to blend. You paid for the rights to use the sound might as well use them.
