SoundTower PlugSE for the Mopho

Post by jonbongjovi » Sun Jul 29, 2012 1:53 am

Hey Guys,

Has anyone got the soundtower VSTs PlugSE for the Mopho going inside ableton?

I've been struggling with it for a while getting annoyed because i just want to enjoy making noises on my new synth..

there seems to be some MIDI funkiness going on..

Cheers,
Jon

I am still hesitating to get it. Overpriced and buggy is an unlucky combo. Could you elaborate a little on the troubles you are experiencing?

It is absolute shit as a VST for me any way in both logic and ableton.

so i use the standalone version with my prophet 08 but sill then sometimes it sends random stuff to the synth and it changes your settings.

Its only good for moving patches on and off your synth in my opinion.

there are some quite interesting alternatives to the ST plugin.

http://ctrlr.org/page.php?p=downloads

that one is open source and 4 free. you have to download the editor which enables u to build your own control surface. for the mopho (and many other synths) there is already a fully working template in the "device panels" section (http://ctrlr.org/page.php?p=ddb). i just briefly tried it and found its all i was looking for, though i had to reroute it and load the template every time i opened the project. but might easily be a mistake on my side due to lack of time to go deep with it.
theres a tutorial video that shows how to set it up together with external instruments device in ableton so you can control your synth with your midi keyboard or whatever controller and the vsti in the same time.

then there is

http://mkdr.net/m/index.php?option=com_ ... &Itemid=28

which i just discovered yesterday. built with synthmaker and reasonably priced at 10 euros it offers the nicest GUI i've seen for the mopho so far. seems like lots of people who tried it really dig it. theres also a demo version. i will check it out for sure.

here are threads on other boards that list more plugins including some freebies:

http://www.gearslutz.com/board/electron ... ditor.html

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 87002ca4a5

(in the latter one theres a list of links disguised as question on the first page, you have to scroll down a bit)

i just wish i had time to try them all. i am chained to my office desk iterally 24/7 since one month :(

edit: just noticed the gearslutz URL 404s. fixed.

"most unreliable software company ever"
