Without listening to it, I;d suggest you just run it through autotune's graph mode to see what notes are in it if you're stuck.

'Length, release date, bpm, key...'.

So it seems to be C# Major.

Indeed. 8)

…but it really is in D minor. Don't know what the "C# Major" label at the top is about. Damn sure isn't that.

listened to it a bit, it's also definitely not in a major key.

funken - try tapping some piano keys and listen to it, it's a good exercise. you can do it!

Yes, in my opinion exactly how you should go about figuring this stuff out. I know its hard, but its a useful skill!

Not sure who told you that you need perfect pitch to key a song/acapella. Surely you can play a few keys and hear if they clash or not with the vocal?

I did it with a single reference pitch from my iPhone tuner and the rest with my ears. Had no instruments around me at the time. I don't have absolute pitch but rather very good relative pitch.

D minor is the easiest way to label it since like a lot of R&B/Soul it's focused around a minor pentatonic (or the blues variant), so the sixth might rarely be heard anyway.
