What's The Most Realistic Text To Speech You Ever Used?

Post by sounds » Mon Aug 13, 2012 2:09 am

I've been messing with some online text to speech demos specifically neo speech.
The default voice sound pretty human but wondering has anybody tried anything better
I don't want any robotic 1998 windows sounding voices  i can do that afterwards.
Something i can work with fto create a few advertisements for a radio station.

Thanks

The most realistic text to speech was when I asked someone to recite the text for me after which I recorded it.
should have recorded him WHILE he was reciting...
not after...

This is pretty good. At least I've gotten some usable results:

Vocaloid does virtual singing, I'm not sure if it functions as a text to speech just as well.

http://www.yamaha.com/about_yamaha/research/vocaloid/

"VOCALOID-flex is an improved version of VOCALOID that includes the capability of synthesizing natural-sounding speech. Good speech synthesis is even harder to achieve than good singing synthesis, as it requires the ability to make very subtle changes in the sound. For this reason, VOCALOID-flex is designed to deliver robust editing of basic sound elements (phoneme sound structure, phoneme length, etc.) and intonations (pitches, stresses, and more). These new capabilities are not available with previous VOCALOID versions. The software can deliver utterances that closely approximate human speech, and allows user to add accents and intonations that can simulate a wide range of dialectical speech patterns"

Yea i have been hearing a few very good tunes lately that are done with Vocaloid or similar.
If you have heard any of Maceo Plex's recent stuff, the vocals are pretty twisted.. dirty grooves. :)

Maybe i heard Tim Exel do a live show on bbc radio 1 using vocaloid software.. interesting never the less.
