I was about to dedicate it to you Funken :D
I knew you'll get in love with this one.
Huge, right ?!
(BTW, like you and many others, I've already discovered the track select status tip here, thanks to Amaury).

When a loop is selected, cmd ◀ ► moves the right hand loop brace, and cmd ▲▼ makes the loop longer and shorter by factors of 2.

C'mon Funken, I'm sure you've rip this one off from the manual!

I dunno if it's in the manual or not tbh. No idea how many people know about it either. I just noticed it was missing from my mega-shortcut page called Easy Ways to Control Ableton Live. I'm attempting to make a song without using a mouse and it cropped up.

Edit. Ok I just checked, it is in the Live 8 manual. Anyway, it's handy for mouse-free work.

Actually, while on the subject, I'm a bit confused by the 4 keymappable bits to the left called SET. You can end up with a very small loop messing with them, but how do you go back to normal? By using the commands I just mentioned above? I've never used them tbh. It seems odd that you can mess the loop, but not jump back to square one. I don't really understand how you would use them in practice.

Those are fun!!

Classic application:

Map Start set, Loop button, Start and End loop sets.

Have Loop off on a track that is playing.

Hit Start and duplicate it.

Then as it is still playing, hit Loop Start set button. Wait, hit Length set button. Clip loops.

Now you have the option to turn Loop button off to let the clip play from where it is currently playing, or if you're completely lost, trigger the duplicated clip to continue from the last point you hit Start for.

I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not:

Resize all your tracks width by holding ALT and dragging the track divider.

Diggin that one Angstrom, I see it works in Arrange too. In Arrange it shrinks tracks down 'til it stops at a point where you can see the pseudo-automation lane (do those have a proper name) and the basic groups, and then if you continue they all go to just a minimal line.

yur2

thanx, will have a play and report back!

Fuck me you can do some insane shit with those, and the other ones I just mentioned, on a full track, see what you mean! I hadn't tried it as a DJ tool. I just remixed a track on the fly completely randomly! Back of the net!

Quoting myself:

I think I have a big one.
I use Live extensively for years, but I just discovered this one. Sorry for those who already know this one, it just changed my life, it's especially useful for sound design/ sound editing to video.
By midi mapping a clip's volume and transpose button like this:
Image

you have access to the volume and the transpose of the SELECTED clip, not just the one you've mapped.
Of course you can save the mapping within your default set, and without the need to have a clip in it just for the mapping. Just put a clip in a track, go to its clip view, midi map. You can now delete the clip. Check with a cmd-m... the mapping is still here!

One less mouse action needed, audio editing goes sooooo much faster.

Know what, you can do the same with clip "start", "end" (same for loop). It will affect the selected clip. Sweet.
