Monitors going pop

Just set up my little studio in a new house and notice my Mackie MR5s are making small popping noises, presumably when there is a fluctuation in the electrical system. I just have everything plugged into a regular old Belkin power strip... do I need to upgrade to a power conditioner? Or is there a more cost-effective way to prevent the noise?

volume too loud?
crappy USB ports on your computer?
old drivers?

Nah think the electrical circuit was arching. I switched to a different plug and so far so good. Thanks for the reply!
