On this site you will find a lot of free piano samples, some are in the sfz format which the alchemy player seems to be able to load.

when you are ready to make the purchase, I highly recommend you check out Ivory by synthogy

Re: Piano VST Plugin
I was looking for the same thing and found a couple of good ones in Ableton's free Partner Instruments packs. Just look for free stuff in the library. They've included some pieces of paid versions of Ableton piano plugins. They will appear in your library after the installation. I personnaly prefere this solution because I don't like to be overwhelmed with different third party plugins and samples that are spread all over the computer. If I can keep it simple that's the way to go for me.

Re: Piano VST Plugin
The ones in the ableton library are fine. Especially for dance tracks IMO.
Re: Piano VST Plugin
As someone else mentioned
Pianoteq
http://www.pianoteq.com/
It has an actual sound of a piano, but the demo lasts for only so long.

Re: Piano VST Plugin
I've got the New York Concert Grand pack, absolutely lovely sounding piano library. It's nice to play but maybe a bit too "proper" for dance music?Dan13LP wrote:Costs money but Native Instruments kontakt package has some amazing pianos, as well as other concert instruments (trumpets, violins, horns, etc...)

Re: Piano VST Plugin
It would be a great addition to my collection of instruments since I can personalize the sound as I go. OP should better buy his own electronic piano so he can personally customize the sound as he goes.

Re: Piano VST Plugin
To sort of answer the question, its not the straight up piano I assume you're looking for, but the TAL-U-NO-LX is a Juno60 emulation, and it sounds good for a free synth. http://kunz.corrupt.ch/products/tal-u-no-lx
Check out Music Radar, they do a series on free software, theres a lot of cool plugs in there. http://beta.musicradar.com/news/tech/fr ... t-255880/2
Korg Legacy when you're ready to buy, for dance you're probably gonna want the M1, its pretty solid. Though I'd recommend just saving a bit more and getting a legit M1, or the rack version for like $200 less. Software sucks, just compare popular dance tracks using piano these days, with some of that classic italo house which largely used M1s for the leads. I know the M1 is a digital synth, but comparing them both side by side, the physical one sounds loads better to me, maybe its a placebo effect.
