Does the velocity editor work in a drum rack?

Post by done1 » Thu Aug 23, 2012 7:46 pm

I've got a tom roll and I'm trying to do a build up towards the end of the bar. Moving the velocity markers in the editor has no effect(but the colours change). I'm working in a drum rack. I set up a volume envelope, and that works as planned. What am I missing? I thought adjusting velocity would affect volume, without having to draw an envelope.

You need to adjust velocity sensitivity in the simplers in the drum rack. By default they are on 0.

You can adjust one then map value to siblings if you want them all to be equally velocity sensitive.

I can't find the simplers, their not in the chain list. I set this up by pulling a drum rack into a midi track, and added drum pieces.

I should clarify, I haven't dragged a "Simpler" into my drum rack. I dragged in a "Drum Rack" from Live Devices/Instruments/Drum Rack. Not sure what you mean by "Simpler". Thanks in advance.

double click a drum pad, if you dont see the simpler to the right, you probably see the chain thingy... left edge of that there are 3 circles below the power button, bottom one opens simpler for that hit, lil rectangle symbol

'vel' box is there, mid-leftish, set it to 100% or whatever works

Simpler is the default sample player in drum racks (as well as things like eic sounds).

If you can't see it in the chain view, do you see another set of macros? This is a drum rack within a drum rack. Just keep expanding down the chain. Somewhere at the end they'll be a simpler. This has a vel control on it.

one obscure shortcut for drawing velocity ramping up, hold ctrl and draw the diagonal line right across those vel bars with the lil circle on top
