Export Audio => how to disable the audio during process?

Post by supamonsta » Mon Sep 03, 2012 12:25 pm

Hi,

done some studio work this weekend and I need to export individual tracks,

some tracks are quick and fast, I guess that's because there is no automation

other tracks need to be taken on the master, and automations run

That's real-time, say 6 min for a 6 min track, I feel it is a bit slow, but I can do with that,

fact is I DON'T WANT TO LISTEN TO THE RENDERED AUDIO during the process, but I can't find any way to disable it...

anyone?

cheers

I think it's not automation... rather sidechaining.. that needs "Realtime" rendering..

@ 3dot

Nice button mate, I don't have this one in my setup, another idea?

Sidechain is indeed something I have in some routing busses, yes...

but these aren't answers to my question

anyone??

Ok, I do understand that this is not possible...

who the f*** does actually want to listen to the individual tracks one's exporting????

fact is, when I export my tracks, I like to listen to something else to freshen my ears... in iTunes, or watch a video on youtube... gotta get out of the "studio" for that... (I know it's a good thing to get out of the studio at some times to make a break, but... )

was that the case with older versions of live? I don't remember having this "problem" back in years when I had to do the same process for a 6 songs EP...???

anyway, not a big problem, but shite anyway.... :|

cheers

A very vague idea here, I am no way sure it works and can't check it right now:

When you click on the CPU load meter you can temporarily disable Live's audio engine.

So live will definitely be silent, but I have not an inkling if real time export will work.

I'm confused (a normal state of being for me), but I have never had the song play while it's being rendered during exporting.

It just processes the the song in silence.
Zip, zoom, bada-bing, bada-boom.

a little confusing
are you talking about bouncing tracks to a audio in the current project
because I cant see how you are hearing the track when exporting an off-line render.
If you are speaking of bouncing
disable your sidechains and freeze the the tracken and flatten or ctl-drag to a new audio track

Okay, now I kind of see what you guys are referring to.
I've never had to Freeze a track & such.
Exporting it doesn't do it, but Freezing & Recording to another track does.
Good to know, though I doubt it will affect me, as I use Ableton in more simple ways than most of you.
Carry on!

I use "export audio and video", don't know how I could do it otherwise. In live 7 or 6, it was I think "render to disk".

and I do it for each track, the others muted, and its subbusses and fx returns

so I export each time the master track.

the audio is rendering realtime... and I hear it. :?

thanks for your attention :D

cheers

Hmm I haven't done this in awhile but I don't recall hearing it when rendering to disk. Maybe I should whip something out and render it to refresh my memory (seriously been long time since I did that). I usually go and highlight the entire track and render audio and video and heard nothing playing while it renders.

same for me, but I think I never did it with Live 8 (I went from 7 to 8 around november 2011)

I guess it came as a superfeature of live 8... :?
