Get rid of video in Live

Post by Riley333 » Thu Sep 13, 2012 11:25 am

Use a video app, like Vegas or Final cut, or any number of the free video programs.

Live is for Jamming and music production.

I'm not just saying.

i wish it would just be... better, more formats, better inegration and syncing, ease of use

i gave up on using it, now i really love corel videostudio, which is so clearly a copy of the Live UI it feels like home

it being there in live doesnt really hurt anything, it seems like a tacked on feature that i would hope will be expanded upon...

( I edited my post because was dumb )

just to say that once, I discovered that you could not make video clips that would be fired as audio clips in session view, so I never looked again into live's video capabilities...

video clips in session view would be dope for me

Video just seems like a waste of space, cpu and would be better off not integrated.

Totally disagree.

I use Live for sound design to picture all the time, and I use the M4L video effects in performance along with the audio capabilities of Live.

I wish it was more capable, but in fact, it's not half bad.

When you do to-picture work, it's VERY convenient to have the video clip running automatically in sync of your arrangement. I'm glad Live has this basic functionality, and it works like it should.

Edit: hehe, LP got there first, it seems :D ... But yeah. True, true.

get rid of the vocoder.

or don't use it.

or maybe start a thread asking people for creative ways they use video and expand your skill set.

they can't take out video, it would only piss off people that do use it and Ableton would lose customers and get whiny threads on the forum. for the people that don't use it but whine about it being there they'd be happy for about 4 seconds that video was gone then completely forget that it was taken out.

it only wastes cpu if you use it, and for no reason. If you were using it, and it served a purpose to you, it would merely be "using" cpu.

agreed... how do you use it for no reason?

even if you fire it up to find out how much cpu it "wastes" you have a reason.

answer that... and i have questions about a tree falling and the origins of the chicken.

Now THIS is a real topic.

Has it outlived it's usefulness?

Is it an important part of many folks' workflow?
