How to enlarge the wave display in Clip view?

I can't recall if this is even possible to do and could not see any reference to doing so in the manual or Forum Search.

My recordings seem to show up with really small wave displays sometimes but the audio levels are fine.

I'd like to be able to see a much bigger outline of the recording.

Anyone know the way to do that?

Drag the divider between the clip view and the session view (or arrange) above it up.

Hi Liam :D

It can be done, with your clip view editor window open, drag the top edge upwards, this will make the wave shape larger

Also you can zoom into this my hovering the mouse over the ruler bar, till you see a magnifier type shape

then its a case of just click and dragging the zoom to where you want to see more detail or zoom out.

Hope this helps

ha,ha looks like I been beaten to the post, never mind,we all help each other out :D

Thanks for the suggestions but why does Live sometimes show large wave displays and then sometimes miniscule ones? This has me puzzled.

I don't like having to drag the divider up to see enough waveform displayed - its just an extra step I should not have to do surely.
It works but in the current display the display is so small that dragging the divider hardly improves the visual.

At present the display is just too small.

Anyway, thanks again.

trying to read between the lines...

are you saying it is a low volume recording, skinny waveform? turn up the gain

if its a long rec you need the magnify bar, just above the waveform, up n down

other than that its dragging the upper edge of clip view up.....what else do you need!?

Hi Liam :D

Im not sure and has got me thinking about that too!!

Maybe its to do with the sound level of the audio as in db.Thats my idea louder db,bigger waveform and vice versa?

I don't know,,maybe someone else with better knowledge will know

That does not really solve the visual problem. Increasing the db adds too much distortion - I did try that as a solution but its not the answer.

The audio levels are recorded and do playback at correct levels. As I mentioned.

In Sonar you can adjust the visual display of waves (increase their height / size etc).

The only options here, really is as described by me and other forum members. So the only way round that is to use Sonar,do whatever needs doing, then import.

Like all DAW's,each one has its unique quirks :D

Bump. Live is a modern DAW and should have the ability to increase the waveform display. Make noise about features you think Live should have, they might be listening.

Bump. This is absurd. Seeing the waveform is a basic editing necessity. Every time I perform a search on this forum, I start off by thinking, "great, it looks like someone else already asked this question five years ago." Then my happiness turns to disbelief when I realize that the issue is still unresolved...

The quick and dirty solution is to raise the clip gain and turn it down with Utility gain with the same amount.

Ableton should fix clip zoom obviously. Is there's no zoom in the push 2 wave display either?
