Upgrade to Suite 8 and get Live 9 Suite Free?! Really?

I bought Ableton Suite 8 (not the upgrade) today at Guitar Center. Asked them to match the $599 that everyone is starting to sell if for now, then pulled out the $100 of $599 coupon that expired today.

So $499 + tax out the door, and upon completing online registration, I received an e-mail that said I would get the Live 9 Suite free when it's released. But when looking at my offers on my account, it says my price is $299 USD. I'll trust the e-mail over their website. I think I read that there is an exclusive deal that will be offered when Live 9 is released.

I also paid full price for Ableton 8 suite and should not have to pay so much just for a buffer shuffler, midi lfo and sequencer. Cool toys for sure but not cool that previous paid suite owners get the shaft.

Do I have to upgrade through Ableton website, or can I order a boxed edition from a nearby shop, and still get the update to 9?

you can buy it anywhere, i bought the boxed version of suite 8 from sweetwater.com which was less expensive at the time and it comes with the free upgrade to suite 9.

I've got Standard live 8 and purchased operator separately. My current upgrade price is £203 Seems high compared to some here >.<

I paid 254€ from live 8 to suite (+ live 9 upgrade). I thought, this was a good deal, but if this is true, i kind of regret not having waited. Hm. Did you own m4l already?

The price I've seen since they first posted the prices is $249 (and $299 crossed out before it). At least they aren't using Euro prices for us Europeans outside the EU, but I have to wonder what strange formula they use to calculate the discounts!

I bought Suite 8 for $200, though, so I guess it all balances out :)

Ia sked them the same question. They said no the prices pertain only to the web shop. I understand that if you have the licence for 9 you can get the box, disks and manual for a smaller (but far from nominal) price...

Ya that's definitely shitty. Brand new users get the incentive to buy in but faithful, longtime, loyal customers get to basically buy the program again. Good look ableton

I'm a Suite 8 owner and I don't feel shafted at all. So others get a bigger discount than me. Yikes. I am trying very hard to get worked up about it, but I really can't manage.
