I sure hope the Ableton folks are reading this forum and make appropriate corrections to this snafu....

My offer to upgrade to Live suite 9 is €249.

My mate sitting next to me has Live 8 standard, and his upgrade route is €149 to live suite 8 with a free upgrade to live suite 9.

Great for him, but may face is still sore from being kicked.

They were different prices in the past and the only way to get the large sample libraries before were through the boxed version. Maybe these cheaper upgrade paths (buy 8 and get 9) are only for the download version which will not include all the sample content - just the instruments and core library.

https://www.ableton.com/en/live/feature-comparison/

-> What comes with the download version?
A Live 9 installer to download from Your Account.
A PDF manual included with your installer.
The same included sounds as the boxed version available for download from Your Packs.

-> What extras do I get if I buy a box?
A DVD with your Live 9 installer
DVDs with all your included Sounds
A printed manual
Stickers ;)

I own Live Suite 8 (download/upgrade) -> upgrade to Live Suite 9 249€ / 698€ (suite9+push)
Interesting, I guess I missed that. I just can't imagine downloading something that takes over 50gb of HD space to install. Even in a compressed Live Pack format that has to be huge. Given that the Orchestral and Session Drums libraries were disc only I just assumed they would still be delivered on discs as well.

So, after years of non progress, we finally get something interesting announced, only to find out that the older, more supporting clients (suite 8 + m4l) are getting the higher upgrade price?
is this for real? in this time and age?
(not even going to mention whoever ever supported this company by buying any of their instruments while they were sold on their own)

i was (like many over here, i am sure) quite impressed and ready to consider live 9 suite upgrade + push as ordered already but after feeling all the ableton love i am not sure anymore

someone at ableton better start thinking better about alienating the users that are still around and have not jumped ship to other daws...

I own Suite 8 and I could totally live with upgrading to Live 9 "Standard", if it would retain Operator and Analog license, but apparently they would stop working if I "cross-upgrade" like that…

I can't get my head around the idea that for the price of the "upgrade" I could buy Logic AND Bitwig, or Logic and a bunch of plugins, etc.

I don't get the pricing at all.

I own 8 Suite and M4L in the U.S. Any suggestions on my cost?

You get the same price for others and there will be many people upgrading, few whining.

same here Funken

Mine is Live 8 Suite to Suite 9 €249 8O

I would have thought a deal for suite owners would be nice, like a reducer or something,to show Ableton acknowledge their loyal customers

Seems like the offer for customers who buy Live and and get a free upgrade to Suite 9 ,is only to tempt them into Ableton Live, and definitely not good news, for us having to fork out €249 for the privilege of owning the Suite

Now there is,some good news I hope,in the introduction of new sounds, max for live etc etc,but a price reduction for Suite owners would be great :D

Looks like Im gonna be on bread and cheese for a few months while I save up,he,he

So let me see if I'm getting this... you get to upgrade from Live 8 to Suite 8 and then get a free upgrade to Suite 9 for $104

and I, who bought boxed Suite 8 and M4L and the Orchestral Instrument Collection have to pay $334

huh... that seems just a bit unfair.

this has put quite a damper on today's excitement.

I have live 8 suite download -----> Euro 249 upgrade to Live 9 Suite download
I also have an old Live 4 licence --------> upgrade to live 8 suite and then free upgrade to 9 suite is Euro 239

rather silly, but there we go, at those prices it's doubtful I'll upgrade immediately anyway. They must be the most expensive upgrade prices I've seen for a while

Kinda lame.
One other possibility . There are users who have bought Live 8 and then just bought Operator or some other instrument seperately. Are these users going to have to upgrade to Live 9 and buy these again, surely not. Makes me hope that the €129 upgrade from Suite 8 to Live 9 will be compatible with any extra instruments or fx you have bought wether individually or as a bundle (Suite 8 )
That's what I'm banking on. Even still, the more I think about it, $160 from Suite 8 to Live 9 is a bit much.

Re: the screenshot above, how are you guys seeing a $104 upgrade to Suite 8 with free Suite 9? What are you guys upgrading from? For me, that number is $524, even while logged in.

Edit: That's $104 from LIVE 8 to SUITE 8 with free upgrade to Suite 9? Hell. No. The cheapest I can get Suite 9 as a Suite 8 owner is $300. Time to do some research on Logic Pro, this might be my jumping off point...
