Apparently I can upgrade to live 9 for 129 euros without the new suite content (presumably keeping what I already have), or for 199 euros get the orchestral instruments and the other live packs they're adding.

Orchestral instruments is 4 packs that used to sell for 150 each.

All sounds fine to me.
are they definitely those packs and not the ones that came in The Essential Instrument Collection??

It's €249 for me at present, hopefully it will come down a bit with their special offer.

But it looks good value to me; EIC2, Session Drums, Orchestral Collection, M4L, Audio to MIDI plus everything else new in Live 9.

Interesting that the current upgrade prices for Suite owners is the same for non-Suite owners, yet none of the Suite owners are complaining.

According to the feature comparison its the full Orchestral packs;

https://www.ableton.com/en/live/feature-comparison/

Plus it also says the download edition now includes what was in the boxed edition before.

That's worth knowing
Is this definately true? I have Live 8 Suite Download, but if I upgrade to Live 9 Standard then my Operator, analog etc will still work? How you do you know this? This would make my day :)

Sorry... have found the answer in the same thread... took awhile though

Buuuuut.... is there still going to be a "special" upgrade price nearer release or has that changed now? Do people know for 100% what their upgrade prices are? Cant be arsed to read 30 pages to see if its changed or not?

I've asked this question already and hadn't been answered..
This interests me because...
I think I can skip the 'glue' and revised fx and new/old samples...
already have all the stuff I need from the "suite"...
but I would like me a brand new Live9 with the new features..
nasty times... hard.. financially... so each $ counts.
so I hope Ableton will walk a step towards us fully loaded Live8+m4l users...

doesn't matter really...I'm upgrading anyway ! (presuming it's stable)
and I'm too deep in this to quit...

I would say don't worry about it until the actual product is available for sale. Right now, this is all still months away...

If it's a budgeting issue, budget for what it says right now. If it's less later on, then hooray.

Somewhere on this forum there is a quote from an Ableton representative stating that if you go from Suite 8 to Live 9 you will still be able to use all the Suite 8 instruments etc.

Here 'tis:
Ableton_David wrote:Yes, this is true - if you upgrade from Suite 8 to Live 9 Standard, you'll retain all Instruments and other extras that you had with Suite 8. You won't get any of the new content with Live 9 Suite that isn't in Live 9 Standard, however.

You get those in 9 anyway I think.

Ableton's way of getting everyone on board with M4L, whether you want too or not. Very clever! Oh' ya and add a couple of goodies, of course..,

Yep Glue is part of standard... Didn't realise that intro doesn't get all the fx, no dynamic tube frinstance. There's an upgrade incentive right there 8O

ah sweet (x2) !

now.... for another related question...
will we need to pay to "upgrade" m4l...
to get the new 64-bit capable /highly cpu efficient/perfectly integrated version?

Max For Live is getting quite a major update too isn't it, to be more in line with Max 6. They actually don't seem to have talked much about that yet.

makes sense huh..
I'm guessing when the upgrade price is added... (might be post-release)
it will put the upgrade price that much closer to 234$...
we're doomed
