Does anyone care about Arrangement view in Live 9?

Most fun I had with "better sound", remembering all forum discussions we had
over the last years on this forum, and it was always at best.
Now they simply improved it !
Wow, nobody told that there was still headroom for improvements.
But it was all easy to bang on people who complained about it.
All those Live agents and supporters(mostly certificated) HAD BEEN WRONG IN THE END !!! Hippocrates !!!

Render in Place - they sorta have now with 9 - you can select parts of the arrangement and move it into a clip.

Where did you see that? The only thing I've seen in that vein is the "create scene from selected time" in Arrangement, but that's different-- a scene, not a single clip, gets created in session to match that part of the arrangement. Were you confused about this, or did I miss something else?

and yes, a bounce-in-place function is really needed at this point, I'm tired of the time-wasting workaround (copy channel, cut out everything you don't want to bounce in copied channel, freeze channel, flatten channel, sort out between new channel and old which parts overlap...etc...weaksauce).

Better sounding eq 8. Specifically smoother response when changmg parameters with fewer artifacts. Eg for filter sweeps and the like.

No mention better sound in mixer section or anything.

Maybe it didn't need changing?

Its amazing.

The guy writes a remote script and also provides a program called kimidi. Converts keys into extended live commands - like global record, solo, mute. Kimidi is for mac though. But the remote script could still be useful to you.

Thanks, but I've made a m4l patch to workaround this. It's not ideal though.

We can observe one improvement in the videos about the arrangement lisibility: the group bracket is now on the left, which is not a stupid change, imho.


And I don't think we compare pre to post production DAWs. Live's feeling is excellent for keep going on creativity during post-production. Just a few little things would help.

i care about arrange view. a lot.

i think some folks are jumping the gun a bit about the lack of new features in Live 9. i mean... it's pretty much like bitwig right now - just a bunch of .jpegs.

maybe i missed it in amongst the oversized blue fonts, flesh colored backgrounds (yuk) and such, but i haven't seen a release date. the fact that they are announcing features could just be to get our appetites wet AND to end the complaining over "saying nothing for over 3 years grumble grumble"... meantime, refinements are being made a list of beta testers is being addressed etc etc. it's not like it drops at the end of the month with a booming voice saying "all features are final!"

If you ask now, why I'm so critical about Live.
I tell you, that I really like it a lot and try to push things forward with constructive critics.
(even if it hurts...)

I saw and heard a big difference of audio quality compared to StudioOne(that I had to switch over to....)!
Also the instability with VST plugins and the high CPU usage are ridiculous in Live8.

All those things have to be mentioned and I'm not afraid to do it.

In the end it comes out.., that critics have been right.

Where there is a space for improvements there was a lack of quality before !
So simple is that !!!

I really hope they improved or better rewritten the whole thing !( took long enough to do so...)


I don't know if there is more coming, but it better be and then at best quality, low CPU usage and stable.
...then I think about to get it.

That's exactly my point all the time !

All people being so hyped about Push, don't see what's under the hood. NOTHING !!!(...or almost...)
Those few little things and improvements are not worth a new version, more like an upgrade...!

Looking at the price it's even more ridiculous..

"Suite intruments and M4L for 200 bucks!" I think this is the whole point of the lineup update. Other upgrade path price isn't attractive at all.

Well yeah, I'd really like to see proper "object selection", or at least the ability to select any combination of clips. Is that too much too ask?

I like to think that maybe the total absence of any glimpse of Arrange in the promo stuff so far means they're going for some kind of Apple style "one more thing" reveal. Possibly linked to multiple screen support?
